What are the characteristics of the territory and its wines?
Central Greece offers a diverse terroir, with a mix of mountainous, semi-mountainous, and coastal vineyards. The region benefits from a Mediterranean climate with significant diurnal temperature variation, which contributes to balanced acidity and complex aromas in the wines. Key soil types include limestone, clay, and schist, adding depth and minerality. The wines range from fresh, aromatic whites to structured, age-worthy reds, often showcasing indigenous varieties like Savatiano, Malagousia, Assyrtiko, Mouchtaro, and Limniona, alongside well-adapted international varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot.

Additionally, winemakers in Central Greece focus on sustainable viticulture and organic farming, ensuring high-quality wines that reflect their place of origin. The balance between traditional Greek varieties and globally renowned grapes adds versatility, making the wines appealing to both local and international markets. Our main aim is to continue spreading the word in the future, so that the unique characters of the wines of our region become even more famous all over the world. The increasing number of the medals awarded by international wine competitions, as well as our participation in international wine exhibitions all over the word, contribute to that direction, and we keep receiving positive feedback, adds the President of Wines of Central Greece Association, Mr. Nikos Zacharias.
